What to Expect: Prior to Surgery
The days leading up to your scheduled surgery can be stressful and confusing, and you may have many questions. Being aware of what should happen before the day of your surgery may put your mind at ease and help ensure a safer, more successful procedure.
Prior to the day of your surgery, you will receive at least three phone calls.
- Within two weeks of your surgery, a registration team member will call to obtain insurance verification. The registration team may do a follow up call for payment if you have fees due before surgery.
- A nurse will call to complete a pre-surgical health assessment. If you do not receive this call from the nurse three days before your surgery, please call (248) 265-4612 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- You will receive a courtesy call the day before your procedure to provide you your arrival time and final instructions. If you do not receive this call by 4 p.m., please call (248) 265-4612.
If your surgeon requires you to have lab tests, an EKG, or X-rays prior to surgery, we encourage you to have the tests completed within one week of your surgery date.
Do not take aspirin products or blood thinners (Coumadin, Plavix, etc.). These should be stopped 5 – 7 days prior to surgery according to your physician. Consult with your physician regarding medication usage.
The UnaSource Surgery Center reception desk is available for service from 6:00am a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. UnaSource Surgery Center is closed on weekends and holidays.
