Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is a medical specialty focused on restoring, enhancing, or altering the human body’s appearance and function. Plastic surgeons may be board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and/or the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

Plastic surgery procedures are generally divided into two main categories:
Reconstructive Surgery
The purpose of reconstructive surgery is to restore normal function and appearance after injury or disease, or due to congenital defects.

Cosmetic (Aesthetic) Surgery
The purpose of cosmetic surgery is to enhance appearance based on a patient’s desires, not medical necessity.

- Breast augmentation
- Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
