It’s amazing what plastic surgery can do for a person. You would have to feel it to believe it. Improving the appearance of a certain part of your body is only the beginning. After plastic surgery, patients experience greater self-confidence, leading to an overall improvement in that person’s quality of life.
People smile more. They laugh more. They’re more likely to walk with their heads up. And their clothing might even fit a little better.
All of this is possible under the care of our outstanding plastic surgeons here in Troy.
Types of Plastic Surgeries Available
UnaSource Surgery Center offers several types of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries. If you are considering plastic surgery, here is a general overview of the most common procedures performed at our outpatient surgery center.
Breast Augmentation/Breast Reduction/Breast Reconstruction
Breast augmentation involves using breast implants or fat transfer to increase the size of your breasts. This procedure can also be used to restore breast volume, achieve a more rounded breast shape, or improve natural breast size asymmetry.
In a breast reduction surgery, surgeons remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size more in proportion with your body. It is often performed in order to alleviate the discomfort associated with excessively large breasts.
Several different types of breast reconstruction procedures are available to women who wish to rebuild the shape of the breast. It is a good option for women who have had surgery as part of their breast cancer treatment.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
In a tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, excess fat and skin is removed. It can also be used to restore muscle tone to create a smoother and firmer abdomen.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
A blepharoplasty is used to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Eyelid surgery can be used to correct loose, sagging, or wrinkled skin on the lower or upper eyelids, which can sometimes impair vision. It can also be used to remove fatty deposits that cause puffiness or to remove the appearance of “bags” under the eyes.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes the stubborn fat that you can’t seem to get rid of through diet and exercise.
A plastic surgeon can perform liposuction on patients’ hips, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, back, arms, and under the chin or face to improve their shape. Liposuction may be performed along with facelifts, breast reduction surgeries, and tummy tucks.
Facelifts can reduce signs of aging by smoothing and tightening skin.
Facelifts are focused on one of three regions: the upper face, or your eyebrow line and higher; the midface, the area from the corners of your eyes to your mouth; or the lower face, which is everything below your mouth and under the chin.
A typical facelift addresses the two lower portions, and a brow lift is a separate procedure.
A rhinoplasty, better known as a “nose job,” is used to change the size or appearance of your nose. It can also be used to correct issues that impair breathing.
To be eligible for a rhinoplasty, your facial growth should be complete, and you should be in good health overall.
