Post-Operative Recovery
After your surgery, it is very important that you follow your home care instructions. Call your doctor if you have any questions or problems.
- Due to the effects of anesthesia, you should not drive a car, operate machinery, make important decisions, sign any legal documents, or drink any alcoholic beverages after your surgery.
- A nurse from the center will call you after your surgery to see how you are feeling and to address any questions or concerns.
- Be sure to schedule a postoperative appointment with your physician.
If you have an emergency after the center is closed, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911. If you have an urgent after hours matter that is not an emergency, call your surgeon.
Post-Operative Pain Relief

The system includes an infusion pump designed to continuously deliver non-narcotic medication at or near the surgical site after surgery, providing the patient days of targeted pain relief.
Traditionally, pain after surgery has been managed with narcotics such as a morphine injection or pain pills. These drugs affect your entire body and may cause unpleasant side effects such as nausea or constipation. In some cases, the side effects of narcotics may actually prevent you from getting back to normal activites. With the use of a non-narcotic pain relief system patients receive excellent pain control right where it’s needed – at the surgery site – resulting in fewer side effects throughout the body.
