Dr. Matthew H. Kopera, MD, is a board-certified general orthopaedic surgeon. With a 20+ year career, Dr. Kopera has extensive skill and experience in knee and hip replacement, arthroscopy, shoulder surgery, orthopaedic trauma, general orthopaedics, as well as alternative/non-operative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma and viscosupplementation for osteoarthritis. Dr. Kopera’s professional associations include: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.
Dr. Kopera earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He then returned to Detroit where he earned both a master’s degree in biology and a doctorate of medicine (MD) at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Kopera completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Detroit Medical Center / Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kopera is affiliated with Ascenion Providence Rochester Hospital (fka Crittenton) and Corewell Health Troy (fka Beaumont), and performs outpatient procedures at Oakland County’s premier surgical facility, UnaSource Surgery Center.
