Osteoarthritis forced Macomb County resident Timothy C. to live with tremendous pain in his hip for two years. The pain was leading him to take 600 milligrams of ibuprofen on a regular basis, which was clearly not a good situation to be in.
Dec. 7, 2018 was the day that changed his life dramatically.
A patient of Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. David Mayo, Timothy had total hip replacement surgery at UnaSource that day and was home within six hours. That same day, he was able to walk around with a walker.
He did experience some pain for a few days after the surgery and took pain relievers. After only a few days, however, the pain was gone, and he stopped taking medications. Within about 10 days after the hip replacement surgery, he stopped using the walker and started using a cane instead.
“After three weeks, I was not using the cane anymore. I was walking on my own and very comfortable,” Timothy said. “All the pain that I had prior was gone. I had absolutely no pain, and I was able to walk fine.”
The experience at UnaSource could not have been better, he said, adding that they were very well organized and prepared him well for the surgery. Timothy also appreciates the fact that he did not have to stay overnight in a hospital at all.

The surgery at UnaSource has also helped Timothy, 62, get back to his career in sales without the added challenge of constant hip pain.
