An instructor and leading pediatric ophthalmologist in metro Detroit, Dr. Rajesh Rao specializes in eye surgery at our center here in Troy, Michigan.
Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Rao received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, and he completed his residency at Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles, California. He currently is affiliated with Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, Beaumont Hospital in Troy, and St. Joe’s Hospital in Pontiac.
During his fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, he received advanced training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes). In addition to these focuses, his clinical interests include double vision (diplopia) treatment.
Today, he specializes in treating amblyopia, known as lazy eye, and many other pediatric eye issues. He sees patients at Children’s Eye Care, located on Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield; Beaubien Street in Detroit within Children’s Hospital of Michigan; Newman Street in Dearborn; and Garfield Road in Clinton Township.
He is an instructor of ophthalmology and section chief of pediatric ophthalmology at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Auburn Hills. Dr. Rao also is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University.
