A team orthopedic surgeon for the Detroit Lions for more than 21 years, Dr. Kyle Anderson, M.D., is one of the most skilled orthopedic surgeons in metro Detroit. The sports medicine specialist has worked with multiple professional athletic teams and schools, making him a highly sought-after practitioner.
His practice, Anderson Sports Medicine, is located in Bingham Farms, Michigan, and he performs orthopedic surgeries at UnaSource Surgery Center in Troy, Michigan. He specializes in sports medicine, and his other interests include treating knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
His experiences include:
- Being a team orthopedic surgeon for the Detroit Lions since 2000
- Working as a team physician for the Detroit Tigers from 1999 to 2006
- Working as an orthopedic consultant for the Detroit Red Wings from 2000 to 2006.
Not only does he practice sports medicine, but he is a skilled athlete himself. As an undergraduate student, he played football under Bo Schembechler at the University of Michigan. As a result, he has even more firsthand knowledge about the types of injuries athletes may experience, how to treat and prevent the injuries, and how to strengthen key muscle groups.
During his residency training at Northwestern University in Chicago, Dr. Anderson worked with the physicians of the Chicago Bears (1993 to 1999), Chicago Cubs (1997 to 1998), and Chicago Blackhawks (1994 to 1998).
He completed his fellowship at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York with a focus on sports medicine, and at that time, he worked with the physicians of the New York Giants and New York Mets, both from 1998 1999.
Dr. Anderson also has developed several surgical instruments, authored more than 50 scientific research papers, and presented research at approximately 90 regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
